Upcoming Events
No upcoming events scheduled...
It has been one month since I took the bench in the 248th District Court, and things are off to a great start! Take a look at just a few of our early accomplishments!
Cases and Trials
Currently, there are 642 cases pending in the court, a heavy docket that shows there is no shortage of business to keep us busy. Our trial settings include dates through August, and we look forward to seeing
juries in our jury box very soon! All in all, the wheels of justice are turning in the 248th District Court.
Courtroom Stories
Sometimes, the family members of those who are accused attend our courtroom proceedings. This month, we were honored to be approached by the elderly father of an inmate whose case was pending on our docket. He thanked the court for appointing a lawyer to his son’s case, and for his own ability to speak with the lawyer and learn about the potential outcomes. The elderly gentleman explained that he had had difficulty finding the courtroom, much less understanding the charges against his son, and he was grateful for the attention that he and his son’s case had received. It was a reminder that in the criminal justice system, we have many chances to affect many lives. Our work in our Harris County courts is so very important.
